FUNDING worth a total of £13160.28 was handed out to a range of local groups and projects at the Hillhead of Auquhirie Wind Farm Community Fund Awards on Tuesday 2nd October at the Men’s Shed in Stonehaven. Group representatives attended to receive funding to support a wide range of projects and groups in the area of benefit.
Fern Community Funds, a leading independent renewable energy developer, established the Hillhead of Auquhirie Community Benefit Fund to support local groups and projects. Funding is available for the benefit of the communities living in the Community Council areas of Arbuthnott; Mearns; Catterline, Kinneff and Dunnottar; Stonehaven and District. Administered by Kincardineshire Development Partnership (KDP), applications to the fund are assessed by a Decision-Making panel made up of representatives from all four Community Council areas. The fund is available annually for the lifetime of the wind farm which is provided by current owners Octopus Investments.
Successful applicants this round included Catterline Coastal Rowing Club,Kinneff Luncheon Club, Howe O Mearns Pipe Band, Fordoun Defribillator Fund, Auchenblae Pre School, Stonehaven Business Association, Stonehaven Folk Festival, Panthers Basketball Club, Rhythm Nation Dance Companies, Stonehaven and District Men’s Shed
Groups were delighted to attend the evening kindly hosted by the The Men’s Shed, with commentary by KDP Chairperson, David Nelson. Cheques and certificates were presented by Angus Robertson on behalf of Fern Community Funds.
