Stonehaven Talking Newspaper, also known as The Spik O’ the Mearns, is seeking new volunteers to help people who are registered visually impaired.

For 23 years the group have been producing a weekly recording of local news which is then posted out,  all completely free of charge.  There is also a Christmas edition of seasonal material from a range of sources.

There are four teams consisting of editors, readers, technicians and administrators,  working on a rota 50 weeks of the year.

The editors meet on a Thursday to prepare the material and everyone else meets on Friday evening at Invercarron Resource Centre to record and send out the memory sticks.

A specially designed player is provided free of charge.

If you would like to help contact secretary Hazel Littlewood on 01561 361672 or chairman Angus Macintosh on 01569 766976.

We would also like to hear about anyone  visually impaired who would benefit from this free service. Contact Hazel on 01561 361672
