Photo gallery and Harbour Festival special junior report
WITH the town basking in glorious sunshine, Stonehaven found itself a tourist Mecca with crowds thronging the piers and Shorehead at today’s harbour festival.
The smell of sizzling kippers filled the air for the waterfront activities and stalls organised by Stonehaven’s three service clubs – The Rotary, Lions and Round Table. Monies raised will be shared by these organisations and distributed to local good causes.
Locals were undoubtedly taken aback at the numbers of visitors pouring down the AWPR, with cars parking in every possible space and filling the town’s streets. Many said they had never seen anything like it – apart from Hogmanay.
Stallholders at the Festival enjoyed a non-stop procession bringing a brisk trade at many stalls. The Lions sold out of their 600 burgers long before the official end time at 4pm and many were left scouring the stands for a can of soft drink.
One young visitor to the Festival joined The Bellman team for the day.
