from Allan Cairnduff –
This year’s annual showcase for allotment, garden, kitchen and craft producers takes place on Saturday August 24.
Entries for Stonehaven and District Horticultural Society annual Flower Show are accepted up to Wednesday 21, with entries to be at the Town Hall on Friday 23 up to 8pm.
The Show is then open to the public from 10am on Saturday 24.
The show is run by the Gardening Club, who have issued a schedule – wee blue book – showing all the classes in cut flowers, pot plants, vegetables, fruit, culinary and art and crafts and floral art, and an entry form with details of rules and regulations. These are available in the library, Kirkton Garden Centre and from me at firstname.lastname@example.org)
Entry is free. You can submit two items under each class in the horticultural sections. There is big money at stake, with massive prizes of £1.50 (1st) £1.00 (2nd) and 50p (3rd) and a trophy for best exhibit and most points in each section.
There are sections for the kids and even one for seniors, plus a whisky trail and tombola.
It will cost you £1 to see the show (kids and S&D members free). Don’t miss it, it is the best show in town!
