Books, A Bishop and A Celebration Cake

From St James’ Church –

THE coming weekend will be a big weekend at St James’ Church in Arbuthnott Street.

It is the weekend of our Patronal Festival, when we celebrate St James’ Day, and we are very pleased that our Bishop , Rt Revd Andrew Swift, will be with us at both the 09.00 and the 10.30 Eucharists.

It is also the weekend of the Book Browse, when over 2,500 books will be on sale (all at a £1 or less).  Once again the level of donations has been fantastic, and lot of new pre-loved books will available for you to browse, whilst you can enjoy the free tea/coffee, and much pleasant conversation with fellow book lovers.  Particularly this time, we have lots of children’s books (for children of all ages) donated, just in time to overcome school holiday boredom.  The Book Browse will be open from 10 to 3 on Saturday (27th) and 10 till 2 on the Sunday.

And there’s another celebration.  Two of our congregation, David and Diane Fleming, will be continuing their Golden Wedding celebrations by a ceremony of the Renewal of the Marriage Vows during the 10.30 service.  There is even a special cake to eaten.   All are welcome to the service.
