from Jane Cruickshank –
IT is now six months since The Bellman went into action as a sharing platform for Stonehaven’s news.
In June, we had 1671 unique visitors to our site, so I guess that is the number we can boast as a readership. Since we started posting, we’ve had over 400,000 page hits.
We’ve never ‘launched’ the site or Facebook page, so all our growth has been organic. A huge thank you to our early supporters and to everyone who has encouraged us either in person, or by liking us on Facebook.
According to every tutorial, content is king. So what The Bellman needs more than anything else, is your stories and your photographs. Golden weddings, charity fundraising efforts, personal achievements – anything you’d be willing to share with the Stonehaven community.
And if you are a member of a club, group or society in Stonehaven, please encourage your committee to send The Bellman its news.
Going forward, The Bellman needs a formal ownership vehicle. A Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation seems like a good option.
But more than anything else, we could really do with a few more volunteers to keep the website up and running, the more the merrier – so if you would be willing to help in any way, please do get in touch by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or phone Jane Cruickshank on 0776 102 8199
Meantime, a big thank you to Maggie McArdle who emailed the lovely shot looking from the Crow’s Nest over towards Bellman’s head and Downie Point, which we’ve used to update our cover image.
