Mackie Academy’s 50th Anniversary 2019-20: help us remember the school’s history – from Louise Moir, Head Teacher
2019-20 represents the 50th year of Mackie Academy in its current site on Slug Road, Stonehaven. To celebrate this significant milestone the school is looking to contact past pupils who have items that they have treasured from their time at Mackie Academy or that hold fond (or not so fond!) memories for them.
The idea is that with these mementos a display will be produced which will be available for all to see when we have our Open Day on Friday, 30th August 2019. The school will be open to visitors on that day to come in, tour around, see the display as well as new House logos in the Main Hall that have been designed by one of our S6 pupils, Lewis King, and be served by our Hospitality pupils with a cup of tea or coffee and a cake. All are welcome.
If you have items you would like to lend to us there are two ways you can do this. First, you can visit the school on the following dates and times, where our senior pupils will log and record any items you may wish to provide and give you a ticket so they can be retrieved after our event:
Monday, 1st July 2019: 09.00-12.00
Tuesday, 2nd July 2019: 11.00 – 14.00
Wednesday, 3rd July 2019: 14.00 – 17.00
Pupils will be ready and waiting for you in Front Reception at these times to talk to you about your memories which makes the experience even more personal.
Secondly, if you cannot make it into the school then feel free to send us pictures of the items which we can then add to our display. These can be sent to the School Office at email@example.com
It would be great if you have items that have a story attached to them that you can tell us the story too as it is these stories that make the memories.
We look forward to hearing from you and feel free to contact the school directly on 01569 762071 if you have a question.
