Rugby Club Try for Cash

AN APPLICATION for cash to help upgrade the facilities at Mackie Rugby Club will be considered at the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, June 11.

Mackie Rugby Club are hoping to gain funds from the area committee budget to assist in the purchase of used portacabins and to convert them into a gymnasium area, changing facilities and physio room.

The club has grown over the past nine years from 170 members to 425 members, with members ages ranging from 5 -18 year olds. In order to meet the needs of players and for further development access to a gym is required.

It is anticipated that the project will create fit for purposes changing facilities and a much needed fitness area.

In addition to being used by the Rugby club, other community groups have expressed an interest in occasional lets such as pilates, yoga groups and Metafit. The benefit for the club is the onsite facilities and sport development. Total project cost is expected to be £24,130.00.
